This year (2018) I made new friends in our garden…a couple of blackbirds
I started feeding them with earthworms from our compost. Every few minutes they got a shovel of compost.
Their nest was at a distance of just 5m beeline.
After a few days they lost their shy, and they came closer and closer up to approx.. 1 meter.
When they emptied the tub, and I was in the garden, at least the male blackbird was looking for me and picked me up to renew the compost with fresh earthworms. The female blackbird is more shy…so for the next pictures I couldn’t get closer.
It was really a pleasure to build this kind of relationship.
By the way, this was not the first year to have this couple of blackbirds as guests in our garden, but the first time that I offered them this kind of support.
